It is not in the history of NYSC for corp members' allowances not to be paid. The NYSC management has defaulted in the payment of corp members' December allowance.
This has generated a lot of controversies in the country as thousands of Nigerians will not stop expressing their opinions about the issue at hand. Some even went as far as questioning the existence of NYSC saying the scheme has lived past its glorious days.
The recent deaths in the orientation camps did not put the management of this scheme in good light as Nigerians have their reservations about it. Although the management issued a statement concerning the delayed allowance, Nigerians are not swayed. Many of them took to the official page of the scheme on Twitter to pour out torrents of thoughts on the issue.
It is right to say Nigerians have no chill with the kind of reactions gathered from the page. The corp members simply want their allowance and do not want to be burdened with the issues that affected or delayed the payment.
From the reactions gathered, it is clear that the affected corp members are not ready to take a chill pill as they are wondering what could have delayed the allowance since the scheme is known for its promptness when it comes to payment.
They went as far as suggesting whether the scheme used their allowance to 'provide help' or 'get help' in MMM, the popular ponzi scheme that got frozen in December.
